The Bikini Concept
The bikini concept is an old idea. Giving away 90% of the content will only make you desire the 10% that much more. Ahhh now you get it… The “Bikini” concept. I was working with a local business owner who didn’t want to post his “company secrets” online… “Why would I do that … then my competition will just copy me.” First off most of your competition is as ego filled as you are and they believe your doing it wrong anyway. Secondly, this is the new age of internet using, information sucking, Google loving and social media addicted consumer. Don’t think for a second that your employees aren’t blogging, tweeting, and posting to Facebook. With enough time and effort I could likely use social engineering to get just about any information about your business I desire. All that being said, it boils down to the fact that “This is what your customers have grown to expect”. They expect to be able to learn all about you, your company, what it does and most importantly “how it does it”. I’m sure by now you’ve heard me say time and time again, People only do business with those that they “know, like and trust”. By being a source of information you become a presence of authority. Online, in a day of real time information and instant knowledge, the only way to truly build this “know, like and trust” relationship, is through the gift of information. You’ve asked, What is the path to success online? Well, here is your answer, Content is king. Timely, Relevant, and Consistent information. Put on your information Bikini, show the world your 90% – and they will want more.
